Breathing words
My parents brought me up to be a voracious reader. That kind of upbringing made me have that deep affection for words. When I got into Yale, I immediately looked for a writing and reading club to satiate my hunger for words. One of my good friends nudged me into putting my skills into something that would enable me to earn at the same time. She introduced me to freelance writing. Since I breathe writing, as it were, it was a fun experience having a writing job even at the tender age of 19 (It is still considered a tender age, at least according to my definition of the term. Ha!). Most of my friends now have freelance writing jobs and we would spend our weekly earnings shopping for books. We would spend countless of hours reading, discussing and writing about anything under the sun. We consider a bookshop our second home. It makes us feel warm and wonderful inside. A future plan was made during one of our book sessions: we would build our dream bookstore 10 years from now. For our short-term plan, we are saving money for a trip to Paris during our semester break, and we can’t wait to hang out in the quaint Shakespeare and Company bookstore in the City of Lights.
New opportunities
I have been working with one of the prestigious companies today and I am so proud to be part of it. So far I am enjoying my three years stay and still looking forward to establish more for my career. Yesterday was one of my happiest days because the management made an announcement regarding the employees that were promoted and fortunately I was one of them. I am a manager now which has been my goal since I started to work in the company. Now I will be handling more projects and the management wanted me to be well prepared and skilled so I could carry out effectively my additional responsibilities. And as part of their plan, they will send me to Primavera training – USA and Primavera training – Canada which I really appreciate. This is one of the reasons why the employees are staying because the management always provide opportunity to each and every employee to enhance their skills and become certified. I will be leaving next week and I can’t wait to visit Emerald Associates. I heard a lot of good feedback about them not just from my colleagues who have already attended the trainings but as well as from my friends. Emerald is a team of committed experts that provide original project management solutions to their various client bases. But before I leave I am planning to treat my colleagues, friends and of course my family who have been very supportive to me. Because of this good news some of my friends are planning to apply in the company I am working at and I do encourage them. I am so excited for the knowledge that I will gain from the trainings which I believe will be a big help for me to perform properly and efficiently my new responsibilities.
